Case Study: Dual Monitors. Workers at a large customer service call center had to keep a minimum of seven windows open on their monitors at any one time while they were assisting customers. The company had provided them with two traditional (non-flat) monitors at each workstation, but the monitors' large size meant that they could not be optimally positioned. This created eyestrain problems for the workers. The company replaced this arrangement with dual flat-screen monitors and provided ergonomic coaching to their employees.

OSHA office ergonomics regulations are covered by its General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1). Employers must keep the workplace free from recognized serious hazards. This includes any ergonomic hazard anticipated to be encountered during the performance of an employee's duties.
